Most of us have used Zoom by this point, for work calls and family quizzes. But did you know there are new updates specifically designed for music lessons?
If you have just booked your first online guitar lesson with one of our fantastic guitar tutors and you are wondering how it all works, here is a simple and easy-to-understand guide, to get the most out of your lesson in 4 easy steps.
Before we start, you need to download Zoom to your device. You don't need to pay for the premium account as the free version will work just fine.
(Please remember that if the student is under 18, the account must be set up by a parent or guardian.)
If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you can skip to this.
If you are using a laptop or desktop, please read on!
Laptops and Desktops
#1 Open Zoom and click the 'settings' cog in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
#2 Now select 'Audio' from the menu on the left-hand side. You will then see the following options as pictured below.
# 3 Scroll down and select 'Enable Original Sound'. Once you do this, the following options will appear as pictured below. Select all of them!
# 4 Finally, make sure you 'Turn On Original Sound' at the start of each lesson.
Smartphones and Tablets
#1 Open up the Zoom app and click 'settings' in the bottom right corner.
#2 Scroll down and select 'Use Original Sound'.
#3 Open the meeting and select 'More' in the bottom right-hand corner.
#4 Select 'Enable Original Sound'.
Conclusion
This will only take you a minute to set up but will profoundly affect the quality of your online music lesson! Just remember to double-check that the 'Original Sound' is enabled at the start of the lesson.
